The word discipline often brings two ideas to mind: punishment and drudgery. Because of this, when we connect discipline with spirituality, it can easily create the impression of God’s wrath at worst, or, at best, a series of dull, repetitive actions meant to make us “more spiritual.”
But this is not God’s design for the spiritual disciplines.
God’s desire is to make Himself known to us and to draw us into deeper communion with Him. Too often, we miss this because we do not slow down long enough to understand His voice or listen to His leading. Spiritual disciplines are simply biblically guided practices that help us see our Savior more clearly and commune with Him more deeply.
As we faithfully engage in these practices, our hearts are shaped, and our love for our Savior continues to grow.
Join us Friday, May 8th from 6-9pm to learn about spiritual disciplines. Sign up is active at the Welcome Center.
